I'm delighted Huddersfield Town have got their man in Chris Powell as the new manager.

He is not only one of the nicest and most well thought of people in football, but he is also one of the most honest.

Chris did a very good job at Charlton in the circumstances and, coming into Town, he will be honest with the players, honest with the fans and no punches will be pulled.

He is renowned as a coach and man-manager and I think he’s a very good appointment.

Chris will bring some much-needed stability after an incredible start to the season.

When you lose your manager on the first day of the season you just want things to calm down, and hopefully now the players and staff will be able to relax a bit as they know everything is now in place to get the rest of the season under way after the international break.

Town have had a very tough set of fixtures so far, so this little break comes at a good time, and with the new manager and Alex Dyer coming in, fingers crossed Town can get a good couple of wins in the home games coming up against Middlesbrough and Wigan Athletic.

Once again Mark Lillis has been the perfect man to step in as deputy and do the job short-term, and Chris can now build on that work – so it’s onwards and upwards.

I’m really looking forward to his first game in charge against Middlesbrough.

I will be there as a guest of the club – I’m speaking down at PPG Canalside to supporters beforehand – and I’m sure the Town fans will be in buoyant mood for the game and ready to get right behind Chris and the team.
