Has this week’s post-mortem into the events at Catalan Dragons been a long and painful process?

Not really, because we do know what went wrong.

You certainly didn’t need to be a scientist or rugby league expert to know we just weren’t good enough as a collective.

We lacked a lot of energy and looked tired, which is not usually like us.

We came out of the blocks for 10 minutes, but when things didn’t quite work we became impatient, and all of a sudden we found ourselves defending on our own line.

The key to winning a game is in the 1% areas and making sure you get that right.

Instead, we took the shortcuts and Catalan didn’t. The end result was inevitable.

The Dragons were more committed and more determined, and got the reward their efforts deserved.

At the same time, we got what we deserved.

Have you got any further thoughts on the tough video calls that clearly went against you?

They weren’t the reason why we lost the game, so there’s no point dwelling on them.

Whether the calls were right or wrong, it doesn’t alter the fact we were very poor on the night.

I certainly won’t allow any of my players to hide behind calls like this as an excuse, just like I won’t allow anyone to feel sorry for themselves over it.

What I now expect the players to do is react positively to the things that went against them in order to become stronger as a group.

I’d like to think everyone knows how honest we are as a group, and that we’re prepared to accept when we just weren’t good enough and make sure we do something about it.

That’s a process we’re going through now, and we’ll hopefully see some very positive results against Warrington this weekend.

Warrington haven’t made a good start to the season. What are your feelings about them?

To be honest, I’m simply not bothered about Warrington at all.

As far as I’m concerned, there’s no point worrying about them, because of the fact we’re not going so well ourselves.

If I spent all my time looking at what Warrington were doing, we’re not going to improve are we?

Obviously, we will spend a little time on what they’re doing and how we’re playing, but at a time like this it’s hardly our main focus.

There’s a big game for the Under 19s who host Warrington in a battle between two unbeaten Academy sides at Laund Hill tonight. It should be a good game, shouldn’t it?

Definitely.

Chris Thorman (19s coach) has got a good group there, and you can see that with the way they stick together.

It’s been a bit of a stop-start affair for them so far this season, although that’s possibly not too bad for young players.

But, hopefully, after having last weekend off, they can get straight back into their stride and maintain their 100% start to the season.

It’ll be interesting to see how they go in what is their biggest challenge so far.

But I know it’s a challenge they’re all looking forward to.

Sunday's game is being billed as the club’s Heritage Game. Is this something you support as a group?

Yes, we do.

This game marks the centenary of the club’s legendary Team of All Talents, and that is clearly something that deserves recognition.

What we need to do as the Giants of 2014 is try to live up to their expectations.

They were a very good team and it’s our challenge to try and emulate them, even though we know what a tough task that’s going to be!

It’s been a long time since the club achieved major success, and we’d like to think we could follow in their footsteps.

We have achieved some small milestones along the way by winning the League Leaders’ Shield.

But we’ve got to remember where this club’s been, and the history it has.

If you look around the fantastic John Smith’s Stadium, it is pretty modern, and it’s up to us to create our own history at the venue.

Great things were achieved during the club’s time at Fartown, and that’s something that should never be forgotten.

It’s up to us to make sure we create similar history at the John Smith’s Stadium.

That’s our ultimate goal, and we’d like to think we could play our part in making sure those past glories return.

If we do come close to matching those achievements of 100 years ago, we would all feel so proud.
