Is everyone who played against Bradford fit and raring to go?

Yes.

Everybody’s in pretty good shape and we’ve had a few extra people training this week, possibly with a view to playing this weekend.

At this stage, it’s just a case of waiting to see.

But whichever way we go, we’ve got to make sure we come out all guns blazing against Catalan on Sunday, rather than wait for things to happen.

When we reviewed the Bradford game, it just seemed as if it was too easy for the players at times.

I don’t want it to sound if I’m being too disrespectful to Bradford, because they came and had a dig for 50 minutes before our quality showed through.

But if we are genuinely serious about achieving things, there’s no way Bradford should be scoring 26 points against us.

All five of their tries were soft, and that’s just not on.

I know we scored 50 points, but I’d have been far happier winning the game 1-0 rather than 52-26.

Did you think the heat was a factor in such a freescoring affair?

Well, we’ve certainly not played in conditions like that before.

To be honest, I thought we were really unlucky having to play on the Sunday, when it was the hottest.

In recent times, we’ve played on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and it even feels as if we’d played on a Monday afternoon in my mum’s back garden!

But in the one time we do step out on Sunday, it’s the hottest it’s been.

I’m not saying the heat is an excuse for some of things we saw out there, but it was clearly one of the reasons why we witnessed the game we did.

And with the strikepower Catalan Dragons possess, you won’t need reminding that handing over such cheap possession to them would be asking for trouble.

Not at all.

They’re a good, physical team and are a threat to anyone.

Laurent (coach Frayssinous) is getting some consistency by selecting from a settled side.

He’s been able to play Williams and Pryce at half-back, he’s got his hooker back and he’s also got some of his big blokes firing, which means they’ve got that physical edge to their play – although sometimes, as was the case at home to Wigan the other week, it can be a bit over the top.

But we’ve got Phil Bentham on Sunday, and he’s a strong referee and if they do try and get a bit over-physical he’ll deal with it.

Sunday’s game will be Bentham’s first at the stadium since he ruled against you in the controversial Challenge Cup defeat to St Helens. Is that something you’ve thought about?

No. That’s a very long time ago.

All I know is Phil Bentham is a good referee and I’m happy he’s in charge on Sunday.

Coming back here for the first time this weekend won’t bother him, and it won’t bother me.

I’m just glad we’ve got a referee like Phil with a strong game.

Finally, how impressed were you with young Jake Connor, who recovered from a nightmare start on his home debut to produce such a solid game against Bradford?

To be honest, I didn’t realise until someone told me after the game that it was his home debut.

That may have been a contributory factor to him dropping his first two carries. But he followed that up by scoring a try and playing solidly after that.

In fact, I said to him at half-time that the way he finished the game after the start he made was a credit to him.
