A hat trick of wins has put Brighouse Town in buoyant mood ahead of Saturday’s Evo-Stik Northern Premier League derby with Ossett Town at St Giles Road.

Saturday’s 3-1 home victory over Division I North basement side Padiham followed a 3-2 triumph at Mossley and a 2-1 home success over Stocksbridge Park Steels in the first round of the NPL’s Doodson Sport Cup.

It’s the first time Paul Quinn’s team have totted up three straight wins since winning promotion form the Northern Counties East League last season.

Brighouse are up to 14th in the table, with Ossett Town 16th after a 4-0 defeat at Harrogate Railway Athletic.

Quinn’s men will be seeking revenge over Ossett after losing 1-0 at home to them in the FA Trophy qualifying round in October.

That was the first-ever meeting between the sides.

Saturday’s victory over Padiham was sealed by goals from Tom Matthews (21 minutes), Ryan Hall (51) and Ernest Boafo (stoppage time).

Matthews finished from Adam Wilson’s pass before Padiham levelled eight minutes later through Louis Mayers.

Hall netted after a neat one-two to restore the lead and Boafo clinched the three-point haul with a fine finish three minutes into time added on.
