Underbank Rangers have got their National Conference League Division III title challenge back on track.

After suffering a bitterly-disappointing 24-8 defeat at Blackbrook last time out, coach Richard Knight’s men bounced back with an impressive 40-20 triumph at title rivals Crosfields.

Most of the damage was done in the second half as they built on a narrow 16-14 interval lead to turn on the style in the second 40.

Corey Noel was at the heart of Bank’s success with two tries, while others came from Sam Rochford, Dan Farrand, Rob Joyce, Andy Boothroyd and player-coach Knight, who couldn’t have celebrated his first game in 18 months in better style.

And Neil Barrett completed the scoring with six goals.

Rangers now turn their attentions to the Conference Challenge Cup and a tough preliminary round test at third-placed First Division side Milford Marlins.

But the manner of the second-half performance at Warrington-based Crosfields won’t have done Underbank’s confidence any harm at all.
