TROMBONE player Andrew Booth (pictured) has stepped down as chairman of Slaithwaite Band after seven years in the job.

But the band is delighted that he will continue with them as a musician and as deputy conductor.

“It has been a difficult decision to make after being involved so much for such a long time, but pressures of work have made it impossible for me to give Slaithwaite Band the service and attention it needs as it continues to move ahead,” said Andrew.

The band’s music director Barry Hudson thanked Andrew for his hard work behind the scenes during a hugely progressive period for the band.

“Andrew has made a phenomenal contribution to the band’s development during his tenure in the role,” said Barry.

“His commitment has been exemplary and I will miss his counsel on the domestic issues that surround an organisation like ours. I am pleased that Andrew will continue as a playing member of the Band and in his capacity as deputy conductor”.
