VOLUNTEER singers from a number of Yorkshire choirs and ensembles will take to the stage this weekend under the direction of Anne Levitt, to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

it is the sixth such concert organised by the Huddersfield musician.

Anne, accompanist for the New Mill Male Voice Choir, will be supported by Elizabeth Hambleton, Cath Stevenson and Emma Binns.

All are well-known in the area for their work with musicians and singers.

The concert, A Little Light Music, this Sunday at Dewsbury Town Hall, will be the culmination of a two-day workshop involving singers from many amateur societies and choirs – including Vocal Expressions, New Mill Male Voice Choir, Pontefract Choral Society, Mirfield Choral Society, the Moorland Singers, Honley Ladies Choir, Inspiration and the Rock Choir.

They will sing a programme of works from Rodgers and Hammerstein and Stephen Sondheim.

Soloists will include Rebecca Parr, Amy Roche and Nigel Dixon.

Anne’s annual fundraiser began as a one-off workshop weekend but proved to be so popular that it became a regular event.

Tickets for the concert, which starts at 7.30pm, are £8 each. Concessions are available. Contact Dewsbury Town Hall box office on 01924 324501 or www.kirklees.gov.uk/townhalls
