IT IS a spectacular stretch of countryside.

The sort that makes you want to rush out with your camera and capture those images forever.

It is what people often do up and down the length of the upper Colne Valley, across its hillsides and its seasons.

Now organisers of a photograph competition to find images for the 2013 Marsden and Slaithwaite calendar are calling for you to share those views with others.

Entries for the competition to select next year’s calendar images close on Friday June 1.

The contest is open to anyone with a camera and a bit of imagination.

Application forms are available from Marsden or Slaithwaite Library and Information Centres.

Printed photographs must be handed in to Marsden Library and Information Centre which is in Marsden Mechanics Hall, Peel Street, Marsden or Slaithwaite Library, Britannia Road, Slaithwaite.

Entries cannot be submitted by email.

What the organisers are looking for are photographs in colour and landscape format which illustrate the seasons, the life and scenery of the Upper Colne Valley. That means Slaithwaite and Marsden.

Thirteen entries will be chosen for the calendar, one for each month and one for the front cover.

Each winner will receive a framed enlargement of their photograph and a calendar.

This is the sixth year the competition has been held and the Christmas lights committees of Marsden and Slaithwaite benefit from the sale of the calendar which is sold all over the world.
