If you are looking for inspiration for what might entertain your children this summer, why not try art workshops?

A series of six workshops is already underway at Huddersfield Art Gallery.

Next Thursday, the session is all about the Art of Survival.

Amy Hirst is the artist who will be providing the inspiration and asking what you would need to survive in space or on a desert island.

The idea is to create miniature 3D survival kit sculptures. Children will create small sculptures to take home.

If Fun With Felt sounds more like your sort of craft, then put Friday August 23 in your diary.

That’s when textile artist Lianne Woodward will be encouraging people to have a go at making felt.

Artist Jake Attree will run the workshop at the gallery on August 29.

Jake is a figurative painter who has his studio at Dean Clough in Halifax.

He is just the person to be leading a session called Paintings Large and Small.

The workshop will explore new skills and ideas inspired by paintings in the town’s art gallery which is above the main lending library in Princess Alexandra Walk.

Children can make their painting really huge or super tiny.

There’s another fun session in store on the following day, August 30.

Drawing and Imagination is what it says, a chance to explore fun new ways to draw with lots of energy and creativity.

All the workshops will run between 1.30pm and 3.30pm and are suitable for children and families of all ages (under 8s must be accompanied by an adult).

Booking is essential as places are limited. Places cost £5 or £4 with a Kirklees Passport per child.
