RAISING funds is a continuing battle for many voluntary groups.
Now Kirklees Council has stepped in with an offer of funding which could see grants for thousands of pounds going to those who run community events.
The council’s new three-year investment programme for local voluntary groups is aimed at those groups which run events in the community such as festivals.
Organisers have until 9am on Monday February 28 to apply for between £2,500 and £10,000 per year, for three years.
Adele Poppleton, the council’s Arts and Creative Economy Development Manager, said: “We know that voluntary groups often run community events on a tiny budget and find it hard to plan more than a year ahead.
“We aim to provide a small amount of funding for three years to help groups grow stronger and develop. ”
“As well as funding, we will provide advice and information, support with marketing, and encourage groups to work together and share resources.”
