AN EXHIBITION of carnival arts by young people is being celebrated at the Northern Light Gallery, Armitage Bridge.

The event, which takes place today and tomorrow and on October 9 and 10, includes painting, poetry and graffiti art from summer’s Berry Brow Carnival.

The carnival started in 1964. It was dropped in 1981 but resurrected in 2007.

Hilary Calverley, the art workshop co-ordinator said: “We were delighted to see young people and adults engaging with creativity and colour and expressing their enjoyment of the carnival.”
