The lights, fireworks and excitement of the Festival of Light has been captured in a mesmerising time lapse video.

Alex France set up and recorded a timelapse video of the day's events, from the Frozen singalong right through to the fireworks and the DJ Yoda set.

The video, which lasts just under two minutes, shows crowds streaming into St George's Square and was shot from an apartment overlooking the entertainment.

As well as capturing the festival crowds, the video shows off James Bawn's stunning light installation.

Alex who runs eCommerce and web development firm BrandSumo , said he wanted to see what was going on.

The 23-year-old started the business with Geoff Ballington after the pair met while studying design-related subjects at the University of Huddersfield.

He said: "We're really pleased with how it turned out, we were in a good position."

Earlier this year, the pair created a timelapse video showing the creation of the French farm in St George's Square ahead of the Tour de France.
