An intriguing audio visual exhibition based on nocturnal visits to Bronte parsonage in Howarth has opened at Huddersfield Art Gallery.

Staged by Brass Art, a Northern collective of artists – Chara Lewis, Kristin Mojsiewicz and Anneke Pettican – together with composer Alistair MacDonald, the show explores the themes of shadow play, mirroring and doubles.

Entitled ‘The Imagining of Things’, it is the result of a long-term research project ‘Shadow World/Writers’ Rooms’. The quite-literally haunting body of work was produced in 2011/12 and merges the use of 19th century optical devices and early 21st century body-scanning technologies such as Microsoft’s Kinect, a motion sensor often harnessed in 3D gaming.

By combining these technologies Brass Art has created a series of spectral alter-egos - pixilated, ethereal beings that make brief cameo appearances before dissolving back into the shadows.

Part of Art in Yorkshire Goes Contemporary, it is the final exhibition of the ROTOR 2013 series.

Entry is free. The show runs until December 21.
