Gordon Stewart is to play a memorial lunchtime concert at Huddersfield Town Hall next week.

Last year the organ world was shocked to hear of the sudden death of Carlo Curley, the flamboyant American concert organist who had made three appearances at Huddersfield Town Hall.

The programme for next Monday, March 24, chosen by Gordon Stewart includes works recorded and played by Carlo Curley and ends with the Liebestod from Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde, a work Carlo played when Gordon Stewart heard him for the last time at Beverley Minster.

The repertoire is Trad/Archer - Londonderry Air; JS Bach - Fugue in G minor; JS Bach/Fox - Come sweetest death; Mozart - Fantasia in minor; Guilmant - Grand Choeur in D; Sousa - Liberty Bell March; Wagner - Liebestod.

Tickets are priced at £5 (£3.50 concessions). Beat the rush and avoid queuing by booking online at www.kirklees.gov.uk/townhalls or from Holmfirth Information Centre, Huddersfield Library, Dewsbury Town Hall, or ring the ticket hotline 01484 223200.

Lunches will be available in the Old Court Room from 11.30am.
