Mimika Theatre is a two person company that produces novel non-verbal theatre for young audiences inside a domed tent.
Later this month the duo can be seen at Huddersfield’s Lawrence Batley Theatre with Landscapes, which takes viewers on a journey through deserts and rainforests, under the sea and to the South Pole.
The production has been seen more than 2,000 times in North America, Canada, parts of Europe, South East Asia and the UK and Ireland.
Why does the company use a canvas dome? It was originally a way to cut out visual distractions when performing in school halls, but the performers enjoyed the intimate atmosphere it created and have been ‘camping’ inside theatres for 20 years now.
There are four performances of Landscapes on Friday and Saturday, September 19 and 20.
Tickets are £6 from 01484 430528. The show is recommended for ages four to 11.
