A collection of original artwork from the award-winning children’s book Pirates ‘n’ Pistols by West Yorkshire’s Chris Mould is on display at the Smith Art Gallery in Brighouse.

Chris’ drawings have a dark and humorous appeal and have been presented on BBC television, Channel 4 and with Aardman Animation, the creators of Wallace and Gromit.

He has won the Nottingham Children’s Book Award and the Swiss Prix Enfantasie Best Children’s Novel Award.

His Something Wickedly Weird book series is popular with both children and adults who appreciate the detailed workmanship, imaginative quality and colourful characters.

Chris, who was born in Bradford and studied illustration at Leeds Polytechnic, is now based at Dean Clough in Halifax.

Pirates! can be seen until Saturday, February 21.

The gallery is open Monday to Friday from 10am until 5pm, Tuesday and Thursday from 10am until 4pm, and on Saturdays from 10am until 3.30pm. Admission is free.
