Young clarinetist Emily Kaye, will be the guest soloist at a concert staged by Huddersfield U3A mixed choir next week.

The 16-year-old, who has been playing the wind instrument since she was seven-years-old, is a Haydn Wood Music Festival prizewinner and has appeared several times with the Holme Valley Singers, who are directed by her mum Kim.

Emily will be playing a selection of pieces by Vaughan Williams, Mozart, Mendelssohn and Edward German.

The choir, which has more than 100 members, will be conducted by Eric Cooper, accompanied by Corinne Lord and Fran Morgan and compered by Jeff Goldthorpe, Chairman of Skelmanthorpe Male Voice Choir and the Association of Yorkshire Choirs.

Tickets for the concert on Saturday, October 18, at 2.30pm in Almondbury Parish Church, are £6 on the door.
