Perhaps you made a New Year resolution to join a community group or do something completely different?

The Spot On Musical Theatre company from Huddersfield may have just what you need.

This established group is offering newcomers an opportunity to get involved with a production of Keith Dewhurst’s Lark Rise, planned for mid-summer.

Two open evenings are being held this month to which budding actors, singers and back-stage helpers are invited to attend.

Spot On has been presenting musicals, plays and pantomimes since 1991. Recent productions have included Bugsy Malone, the pantomime Robin Hood and Acorn Antiques, The Musical.

Anyone interested in joining the Lark Rise cast should contact Margaret Warmington on 01484 604471 or email toby1521@googlemail.com.

The open events are at Moldgreen United Reformed Church on Friday, January 16, or Friday, January 23, at 7pm, when there will be a chance to look at the script and music and chat to the production team.

Lark Rise is the first of two plays known as Lark Rise to Candleford, which were made into a popular television series by the BBC.

The action of the play takes place in a single day – the first day of harvest – and tells a lively, humorous tale of country life.
