If they become comedy stars in the future you’ll remember where you laughed with them first.

For the LBT’s monthly Comedy Cellar next Thursday, April 10, has a twist as it features the Best New Yorkshire Act Award at 8pm.

Nine stand-ups compete for £100 and a contract of paid gigs on the UK comedy circuit, judged by 2012 winner Steve Goodall and Comedy Cellar organiser and compere Anthony J Brown.

There will also be a headline performance from 2011 winner Scott Bennett who is now an established act on the British comedy circuit.

Yorkshire-born Scott delivers wry observations on the absurdity of modern living.

His sharply-written routines drawn from real life experiences have been delighting audiences across the country.

Judge Steve Goodall has an immediately amenable onstage presence and his likeable, energetic personality brings an easy northern charm to wherever he performs.

Anthony Brown is known for his satirical manner. Like a dapper and dandy funeral director, he cuts a unique on-stage presence with humour blacker than a raven that’s slammed its claw in a coffin lid.

He’s been on The Stand Up Show and Phoenix Nights.

Tickets for the Comedy Cellar Best New Yorkshire Act Award 2014 are priced at £9 (concessions £7).
