AT LEAST two local bands are lining up to take part in Manchester’s annual brass band extravaganza.

The event is now recognized as one of the biggest brass festivals anywhere in the world.

The date for this year’s dairy is September 6.

The venue is Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall.

The festival showcases the world’s top brass bands, ensembles and soloists.

It will see the Black Dyke Band, Fodens Band and Brighouse and Rastrick Band all lined up to take part in the gala evening concert.

The day begins at 10am when the bands march from the concert hall through the city.

The award-winning Wingates Band will play a concert at noon and at 2.15pm the will be a concert by the National Children’s Brass Band of Great Britain, conducted by Dr Nicholas Child.

The Fairey Band, 16 times British Open Champions and nine times national champions, will give a concert at 4.15pm.
