THEY say the best things come in small packages and that is true of the latest exhibition at Batley Art Gallery.

Small and Beautiful runs until April 25. It features compact, affordable works, measuring less than 30cm by 30cm, by members of Mirfield’s West Yorkshire Print Workshop, including Australian-born Liz Danby, who creates kiln-formed glass jewellery. Her work will be on display in the entrance foyer in cabinets and will include necklaces, brooches, cufflinks and rings.

Liz was recently commissioned to create trophies for the Dewsbury Reporter 150th Anniversary Lifetime Awards in January.

Other artwork on show will include Pat Lawrinson’s ever-popular images of Archangels and portraits of local school children by Batley-based Tony Noble.

Mark Milnes, who works as exhibition co-ordinator at Batley Art Gallery and Development Officer at WYPW, will also be showing some of his recent artwork.

Artists will be present to talk with visitors about their work and refreshments will be provided.
