BLUES will be back in town at Holmfirth later this month.

The Blues Band will perform at the Picturedrome on March 27.

It will be a welcome return for Paul Jones, Dave Kelly, Tom McGuinness, Gary Fletcher and Rob Townsend, who this year celebrate the band’s 30th anniversary.

They formed in 1979 when ex-Manfred Mann frontman Jones and bandmate Tom McGuinness teamed up to play blues part-time in London’s pubs and clubs.

They were joined by drummer Hughie Flint and blues guitarist Dave Kelly, who in turn brought Gary Fletcher to the group.

The fans loved them and popularity rocketed – but record companies had no interest in a group of ex-60s stars until their direct mail order first album was a hit.

Suddenly, managers sat up and the band signed with Arista Ariola.

Many successful albums have followed – 17 in total – and countless tours have been completed.

It seems fashions come and go in music, but there has always been a fanbase for bands that sing the blues.

Tickets to the Picturedrome gig cost £15 and are available from 01484 689759 or visit
