Brass band’s Proms night in aid of Yorkshire charity

THERE will be a flag-waving atmosphere at Almondbury Methodist Church tomorrow thanks to Meltham and Meltham Mills Band.

The band will play a Last Night of the Proms-style concert in aid of its own funds and Yorkshire Cancer Research.

YCR is the largest regional cancer charity and only pays for cancer research within the old Yorkshire boundaries. It has paid for part of the new molecular medicine wing at St James’ Hospital in Leeds.

Tomorrow’s concert is at 7.15pm and tickets are £6. The soloist will be Sarah Ogden, of Shelley, a previous winner of the Kirklees Young Musician of the Year prize at the Mrs Sunderland Music Festival.
