BRIGHOUSE and Rastrick Band winds up its season early next month with a concert at Malsis School near Keighley.

Confirmation of their July 4 concert has delighted youngsters at the school which has just achieved a raft of distinction grades in the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music exams.

The connection between the 28 piece band and the school is James Ashworth, director of music at Malsis who as a professional singer has often performed the bass-baritone solos in Handel’s Messiah at Brighouse.

“The band has been very good to me by agreeing to come to our comparatively humble venue,” he said.

“Music at Malsis is flourishing with many musical events and concerts but this band is something special and I am sure will bowl the audience over.

David Howe, Brighouse and Rastrick Band Concert Secretary said: “We are looking forward to playing in the delightful setting of Malsis School which will be our final concert before the summer break.”

In the preceding weeks, we will be on the road playing in Norwich, Carlisle and Bournemouth as well as preparing for the English National contest.

It will be a real pleasure to play at Malsis and help inspire pupils, staff and parents.

Tickets are £20 including a glass of wine on 01535 633027.
