EMLEY Brass are celebrating more success on the contest front.

They’ve just successfully defended the Third Section crown they won 12 months ago.

The band headed to the Whychavon Festival of Brass entertainment contest, this year held in Droitwich, to compete against tough opposition from nine other bands in a 20-minute programme contest in front of adjudicator Mr Alan Bourne.

They were delighted to be awarded first place in the competition as well as the prize for Best Percussion section – another prize the band were awarded 12 months ago.

There is more competition still to come for the band who seem to be in winning form. They will compete on October 4 at Bolsover Entertainment Contest.

They will record their first CD in November.

The band has already finished third in the Yorkshire Regionals third section – a result which led to their promotion in 2010.

They also successfully defended their Pogson Bray Trust section B title.
