They are one of the most consistent and successful brass bands in the world.

National Champions in both 2010 and the following year then runners-up last year.

Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band then are always going to be in demand and they’ve already got concert dates geared up well into the autumn.

One for the diaries is November 9 when the band plays at Ilkley’s King’s Hall and Winter Gardens.

They will share the billing with singers from Malsis School in Keighley who they have worked with before.

The band will be conducted by Martin Winter from the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. Martin will then conduct B and R at the Brass in Concert competition the following week.

The contest, at the Sage Centre in Gateshead, is the UK’s leading entertainment contest for brass bands and B and R has won it on a number of occasions before.

At Ilkley the band will premiere much of the programme, written for them exclusively by Martin Winter, for this contest .

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available from the Ilkley Visitor Information Centre or from B&R direct by telephoning 01422 375447.
