IT promises to be a laugh a minute thriller, a whodunit spoof with the character of Inspector Pratt at its heart.

Pratt is the creation of York playwright Peter Gordon and the antics of his inept inspector have proved crowd-pullers wherever the shows are played.

Millennium Stage Productions aims to give the bumbling inspector another outing at Batley Town Hall in July. All it needs now is a cast – and there are lots of roles up for grabs.

The director is Cathy Sutcliffe and auditions are being held on January 21.

There are 10 roles played by a cast of nine and plenty of characters parts for any actor to get to grips with.

You can opt to play the clueless policeman Pratt, a Polish count who might not be quite what he seems, an eccentric wonderfully named thespian, Cardew Longfellow, or for the women, an elegant upper crust lady or an overbearing tweedy type.

The setting is 1939, the body count forever growing, the big question – can the inspector solve it while there is someone still left alive in the house?
