IF YOU are a fan of science fiction then the Square Chapel in Halifax is the place for you next Friday.

Actor and writer Michael Sabbaton has created a one-man show that captures the true horror of two of H P Lovecraft’s most famous cult science fiction stories.

Howard Phillips Lovecraft was an American who wrote horror, fantasy and science fiction. He died in 1947 aged just 46.

He is now regarded as one of the most influential horror writers of the 20th century.

Michael presents a double bill of Lovecraft’s tales, The Call of Cthulhu and The Temple in Halifax on January 11 at 7.30pm.

Each story lasts 50 minutes, separated by an interval so audiences can choose to book for just one of the stories or take advantage of a special rate to see them both.

Written in the 1920s, The Call of Cthulhu tells three related tales about the influence of an ancient, malevolent ‘god’ waiting in the depths of the ocean for the chance to rise again and take control of the earth.

‘The Temple’ is set on a U-boat in 1917 and explores what happens when a strange ivory carved head comes into the possession of U-29’s commander and a curse takes over the boat, causing the crew to experience nightmares and weird visions of dead sailors.

Tickets to see just one of the shows are £8 and £6 concessions in advance, or you can see both at the special advanced rate of £12 & £10.
