THE annual “come and sing”-style Messiah takes place at Parkwood Methodist Church next weekend.

This is the performance which welcomes both singers and audience and which has a real celebratory feel.

This year’s performance is at Parkwood on Sunday November 25 at 6.15pm and musically has much to offer.

The soprano soloist is Sarah Ogden (pictured), the talented singer and brass player who is making quite a name for herself with her musical skills.

Sarah swept the board at last month’s Holmfirth Musical Festival, winning six classes and two special awards for the event’s outstanding performer, as well as receiving the highest mark for any one song.

The contralto soloist is Michelle Walker, who sings with Huddersfield Choral Society.

And Harold Earnshaw (tenor) and Nigel Rothery (baritone) are well-known soloists in the area.

The conductor will be Ken Rothery and Geoffrey Lockwood will play the organ.

Admission is free, but a collection will be taken to help defray expenses.
