‘COFFIN UP’ earned four-star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe and now it can be seen at the Square Chapel in Halifax next Friday, May 18.
The comedy farce about a dastardly undertaker and his quest to make money by any means, is the new show from mask theatre company, The Village Idiots.
It is set in Britain’s ‘healthiest village’, which poses a problem for the protagonist.
Company members list their inspirations as Buster Keaton, Jacques Tati and CSI Miami (for its forensic attention to detail). Their new show is described as a tale of thefts, love, insanity and Morris dancing.
The last time The Village Idiots appeared at the Square Chapel was back in 2010 with their show ‘Screwloose’ which had audiences laughing out loud.
Featuring a fold-out set and character masks, the comic theatre production is directed by Amanda Wilsher and features performer Ben Jakes, who played Michael Corner in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and 2.
The performance starts at 8pm with tickets at £9 and £11 from wwew.squarechapel.co.uk. Telephone 01422 349422.
