THERE should be a warm welcome in store for comic Dave Williams when he plays Huddersfield next month.

Four years ago, Dave spent 18 months compering the comedy gigs at the Lawrence Batley Theatre.

Now he’s back topping the bill for the comedy platform in the Cellar Theatre on August 12.

Dave has been a full time comedian since 1998, and works both as a stand-up solo act and as a compere on the UK comedy circuit.

He has also worked in Australia and played in Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

In 2006 his show 24-Hour Latte People featured in the Manchester Comedy Festival.

With a pre-comedy background in training, Dave continues to work in the corporate world.

He delivers training through workshops in improvisation, presentation skills, assertiveness and creativity, in conjunction with a management consultancy in Glasgow.

Sharing the billing with him at LBT is Joseph Wilson who two years ago was a Chortle Student Comedy Awards finalist.

Last year, he was a finalist in Paramount Comedy On Tap’s Funniest Student contest.

Joseph has been marked out as a “ winningly anarchic oddball with a flair for impersonation and an uncanny knack of creating rib-ticklingly bizarre material.”

Stepping into Dave’s shoes is the ever ready compere Anthony J Brown so there’s no-telling where he might end up.

The show is in the LBT Cellar Theatre at 8pm. Tickets are £9/7 NUS - £5 and the box office is on 01484 430528

Comedy continues at the LBT throughout the new season with Joe Rowntree and Nathan Caton kicking off the new round of gigs on September 9.

The gigs continue on a monthly basis right through to Christmas. It’s a Thursday night special and full details of who’s doing the gas when, check out the new brochure from the LBT box office. Brochures are also in Kirklees information outlets/
