WHEN you discover that he was a main writer for the original Spitting Image programme, you know that here’s a performer with a nose for the news.
When Andy Parsons arrives at the Lawrence Batley Theatre on Wednesday, May 7, you’ll be able to see for yourself just why he’s regarded as one of Britain’s foremost funnymen with a talent for topicality.
But don’t be fooled. All that political banter and those current affairs quips are the result of hard work, work that has made him a linchpin of, and one of the most prolific performers with, London’s infamous Comedy Store Cutting Edge team.
Andy is a regular on radio and TV, has been on many series of Parsons and Naylor’s Pull-Out Sections as well as being a frequent panellist on such shows as Mock the Week and QI.
As well as performing regularly across the UK, Andy has become a stalwart of the world’s major comedy festivals.
He’s presented solo shows at the Edinburgh, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide Comedy Festivals.
Now he’s on the road again and it’s this national tour which brings him to Huddersfield next week.
Expect political comedy without the leaflet, satire without the lecture, ridicule without the sanctimony, oh and that added extra, a helping of showbiz glitter.
Catch him at the LBT on May 7 at 7.30pm. The box office is on 01484 430528.
