COMEDIAN John Bishop is having a great year.

He’s just finished a sell-out run at Edinburgh Festival where he picked up four and five star reviews across the board.

TV has kept him busy with appearances on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Road show, and an upcoming feature in the next series of Skin.

His show, John Bishop: Elvis Has Left The Building, might sound more like the province of an Elvis impersonator. And that John is not.

What the show, which plays the Lawrence Batley Theatre main house next Thursday (November 19) does is offer John’s hilarious reflections on 21st century life.

It did in fact all start with Elvis. John is now the same age as Elvis was when he died. It’s enough to make you reconsider the way you live isn’t it.

So since giving up the nine-to-five grind to ‘follow that dream’, John has been spending lots of time at home hoping that things will happen and that they’ll turn out to be funny.

Perhaps a rather risky career move but luckily for John the antics of his teenage sons (he has three) have proven to be a relentless source of comic inspiration.

The result is a hilarious look at their blasé attitude to dad’s chosen career and to reflections on the peculiarities of modern family life.
