SOPRANO Sarah Ogden is delighted to be back singing as the guest of Huddersfield’s U3A Mixed Choir at its annual concert.

Sarah, who is in great demand as a concert soloist and at after dinner engagements, joined forces with her mezzo-soprano sister Debra at last year’s U3A 25th anniversary concert.

Though Debra is not available for the choir’s concert next Friday, April 30, it will still be a family affair for Sarah.

She will be joined for the concert at Holy Trinity Church in Huddersfield by her mother Sue, who is accompanist for a number of local choirs and will be playing for Sarah at this event.

Sarah, who will be singing a varied programme of songs, graduated five years ago from the University of Birmingham and appeared as a soloist in several major events including the role of The Countess in Mozart’s opera The Marriage of Figaro.

Four years ago Sarah won the Kirklees Young Musician of the Year title. She now teaches full time for Kirklees Music School. She has worked on voice projects in conjunction with the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and also joins with local choirs to offer group voice coaching.

In her spare time she conducts the Hade Edge Community Choir and is looking forward to her new role as Musical Director of Denby Dale Ladies Choir which she takes up in September.

The U3A choir which now numbers more than 100 will be under the joint directorship of Eric Cooper and Malcolm Fairless and will be accompanied by Corinne Lord.

The concert starts at 7pm and tickets, available at the door, are £5.
