Most of us have gone digital. But do we get the most out of our cameras?

Oakwell and Red House ranger Patrick Crowley is also a trained photographer and for nine years he has been running courses to help others see things from a fresh angle.

There are two more of these popular courses coming up.

The first is at Red House Museum in Gomersal tomorrow (October 5) with a second at Oakwell Hall Country Park in Birstall on October 19.

Patrick said: “Modern cameras are so good at taking sharp and properly exposed shots, it’s all too easy to just take a ‘snap’.

“But, by understanding what all the settings of your camera do and knowing some of the theory, you can turn a ‘snap’ into photograph to be proud of.”

At tomorrow’s session, you will get to know your camera in practical sessions and there’s a chance to take photographs in and around the historic setting of Red House Museum. The day will finish with a slide show of pictures taken on the day.

The second course, Getting the most from your Digital SLR Camera, is an intensive one-day course covering the theory and practical sides of Digital SLR cameras.

Each course is 25, contact Oakwell Hall Country Park, 01924 326240 or email patrick.crowley@kirklees.gov.uk
