THEY are two top female singers and should add a real wow factor to a musical which opens in Bradford this autumn.
Singing sensations Jane McDonald, who rose to fame after appearing in the television reality series The Cruise, and Sheila Ferguson, one of The Three Degrees, will appear at The Alhambra, in the musical Daddy Cool.
Following a successful run in London’s West End and in Berlin, Daddy Cool will be staging its first-ever UK tour.
The musical tells the story of a young boy, Sunny, who moves to London from Jamaica - his head filled with music and dance - and falls in love with a girl called Rose.
Unfortunately, their mothers (Pearl, played by Sheila Ferguson, and Ma Baker, played by Jane McDonald) have to settle an old conflict before the young couple can be together.
Jane is now widely known for her work as a radio and television presenter - she is on the panel of Loose Women - as well as singing.
Her first album earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records.
Sheila Ferguson was lead singer with The Three Degrees when it topped the charts with When Will I See You Again and has subsequently starred in a string of musicals.
The show, which is an energetic mix of dance, light and sound, features songs by Boney M, Milli Vanilli, No Mercy, Eruption and La Bouche and includes hits such as Rasputin, Sunny, Brown Girl in the Ring, Ma Baker, Sweet Dreams, Can’t Stand the Rain, Daddy Cool and many more.
The show opens in Bradford on Tuesday, October 16, and closes on Saturday, October 20.
Tickets are from £12.50 to £28.50 and can be booked online at www.bradford-theatres.co.uk or by calling the box office on 01274 432000.or by calling the box office on 01274 432000.
