IT IS all systems go for Brighouse Theatre Productions’ annual pantomime which this year is Jack and the Beanstalk.

Greenhead College student Emily Bowers plays the title role in the show which opens at Brighouse Civic Hall on Wednesday January 26.

Performances run each evening until January 29 at 7.15pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.15pm.

Emily, who is in her second year at Greenhead, is a regular with the company, playing Princess So-Shi, in last year’s show.

Andrew Mann, last seen as the wicked King Rat in Dick Whittington, returns to play Jack’s mother, Dame Dottie Trot.

Andrew has been involved with the theatre company on and off since 1983.

His mother and father, Pauline and Ronald are also long-standing members.

He says he enjoys comedy parts and is happy to wear the Dame’s outrageous costumes.

When he isn’t tottering round the stage in high heels, Andrew designs software for accountants. His wife Julie and small son Lewis will be cheering him on at one of the performances.

John Murphy, manager of Czerwik’s cheese and wine shop in Brighouse, will be swapping the day job for the bright lights as Billy Trot.

John’s last appearance with the theatre group was as the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz in October.

New company member Samantha Wells will play Good Fairy Moonbeam while Giant Blunderbore is played by Ammar Hussain who fortunately is 6 foot 4inches tall.

Audiences will remember him as the Genie in last year’s production of Aladdin.
