SHE’S a powerhouse of a performer and one of the area’s best known fund-raisers.

Over the years Doreen France has raised thousands of pounds for charity using her own musical talents and those of her many friends.

Earlier this year, she staged what has been an annual show at the Lawrence Batley Theatre. It’s usually called Doreen France and Friends, but this year it had a new name. Francie’s Final Fling.

It signalled that Doreen, after years as a dance teacher and amateur operatic star has decided to bring down the curtain on organising big shows.

The total raised by Doreen France and friends for Francie's Final Fling was £1,206.

This has been shared by two local charities which are close to Doreen’s heart.

Friday's performance was for Small Steps and the two Saturday shows were for the Forget-me-not Trust.

Thanks a million for all that work and all those memories, Doreen.
