A CLUB owner who booked Take That in their early days is launching a teen club night in Huddersfield.

Richard Downey, owner of the Rock Cafe, is hosting Connection 16, a night just for 13-17-years-olds.

Richard used to be a national promoter for teenage dance events before he opened the Rock Cafe 15-years-ago.

The nights proved successful among young people.

And Richard hopes the new club night in town will be a hit.

“Working in some of those big cities with clued up managers was a great experience – we became big in that market, we had some great PAs over the years and employed Take That over 200 times,” he said.

“The first time we had them we paid them £30 petrol money.

“Our first night at the Rock cafe is a UV party, with face painting and loads of giveaways.”

The night will be hosted once a month and there will be security and a strict dress code of no hats, no hoodies or tracksuits.

Anyone aged 13-to-17-years-old is invited to the Rock Cafe and Paparazzi on Monday, September 28.

Entrance is £1 with a flyer of £4 without. Contact the Rock Cafe or just text ROCK to 07779 268203 with your e-mail address.
