THE Orchestra of Square Chapel is tuning up for a Summer Concert.

On Sunday, May 20, the orchestra will perform Eastern European Melodies at their Halifax home.

Last year they performed in Scandinavia and this year they continue their world tour with a visit to eastern Europe.

Richly melodic and inspired by ancient folk melodies, the music on this programme takes in the ever-popular Dvorak and Smentana – as well as the less-known Enescu (Romania) and Kodaly (Hungary).

The orchestra is completed by a mixture of professional, semi-professional and gifted amateur players. They played on Radio 3 as part of the Listen Up Festival of British and Contemporary Composers.

See them at the Square Chapel on Sunday, May 20, at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £8.50 and £6.50. Concessions from the Box Office on 01422 349422 or visit www.squarechapel.co.uk
