FAITH forms the basis of a new exhibition by Birkenshaw artist Eva Mileusnic at Mirfield.

Eva, who was born in Dewsbury, has installed 15 steel and plaster sculptures at St Paul’s Church.

The installation comprises plaster cast prayer books, kneelers and steel stands.

The configuration of the installation will change during the six-week exhibition.

The idea is that the public interact with the artwork and re-arrange it to represent the way they want the space and to reflect their faith.

The exhibition is called Presence and will continue during Lent.

There will be a public viewing event on April 13 from 6pm to 8pm when Eva will be present.

She first showed elements of the Presence installation at St Trinity Church in Leeds in 2006 as part of Artfusion North’s exhibition.

She also exhibited the plaster prayer books at The German Church in Bradford.

Eva graduated from Bradford College of Art in 2005 and completed a post-compulsory education and training course at Huddersfield University in 2006.

In the following year, she became artist in residence at Leeds College of Art And Design under the Artists Access to Art College scheme.

In 2007, she was awarded the Esmée Fairburn Foundation Emerging Artist Bursary Award for her first solo exhibition, Worstedopolis, and was named Best Newcomer at Leeds Art Fair 2007.

She runs McM Productions with performance art collaborator Hatti McKenzie.
