WITH a month to go, performances of Fame at the Lawrence Batley Theatre have already had to be extended.
An extra date has been added to the Heavy Arts Theatre School’s production of Fame the Musical which should have played just one performance at the LBT on June 15.
Now that has doubled to two show with the curtain going up on Fame just one night earlier on June 14.
Most tickets have been sold to parents, family and friends of the children involved in the production but Sean Selby, artistic director of the company and the show’s producer said: “A lot of the parents we know have said that even more family and friends wanted tickets as well as other dance school students in the area, so we decided to put on another show! This also gives more of the public a chance to buy tickets too, so everyone can enjoy the hard work we’ve put in to the production.”
And the hard work is paying off, with 190 seats already sold for the extra Saturday performance.
Needless to say, Sean is thrilled: “We’ve been open as a company only since January 2007 and this is our second big show after West Side Story last July. Support from the parents has been fantastic and the kids have been amazing with getting out there and selling the show.”
