January can be a pretty gloomy month — you're back at work, and you're probably feeling fat and a bit skint after all the festive fun of Christmas.

Chances are you're already daydreaming about the next time you escape work — so when is the next Bank Holiday?

The good news is most of us will get these extra seven days off work this year.

And the bad news: you're in for a bit of a wait until the first one. A three month wait, in fact.

The first Bank Holiday of the year is Good Friday, which falls on April 3rd this year.

These are the rest of the dates for your diary this year:

  • Friday April 3 (Good Friday)
  • Monday April 6 (Easter Monday)
  • Monday May 4
  • Monday May 25
  • Monday August 31
  • Friday December 25 (Christmas Day)
  • Monday December 28 (in lieu of Boxing Day being on a Saturday)
