If you're looking for some family fun in the Easter holidays, there's plenty going on in and around Huddersfield.
Spend some quality time as a family at farm open days, craft sessions and gardening days or relax with a steam train ride!
Here are five ideas for family days out:
Spend a day at the farm
Head to Stirley Community Farm in Hall Bower Lane, Huddersfield on Sunday April 3 and join its free Meadow Magic session! Join the farm in sowing the meadow with bee-friendly plants and flowers and learn how to grow your own at home. You can also visit the calves in the cattle barn and take a tour of the farm.
Enjoy a show
Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic musical Cats is coming to Cleckheaton Town Hall from Saturday April 2. The Acorn Youth Theatre is performing the feline-themed musical on Saturday at 7.15pm and Sunday April 3 at 1pm and 6pm. Tickets cost £12 (£10 concessions).
Create art together
Head to Huddersfield Art Gallery in Princess Alexandra Walk for a family art day on Tuesday April 5. The drop-in sessions offer arts and crafts for the whole family, 1pm-3pm. The sessions cost £1 per child, no need to book.
Grow it and cook it in Greenhead Park
The Growing Works is running a free family growing and cooking day at Greenhead Park on Thursday April 7, 11am-3pm. See how green-fingered you are by the raised beds near the top cafe and look out for the mobile potting shed too. Call-in and join the fun at any time, no need to book.
Take a ride on a steam train
Throughout the Easter holidays the Kirklees Light Railway will be running regular steam train services from Clayton West to Shelley. Once you have bought your tickets ( adults £7.50, children £5.50), you can ride all day. Visit kirkleeslightrailway.com for timetable information.
