You should show your mum you love her all year round, right?
But show her you love her a little bit extra on Mother's Day.
When is Mother’s Day 2018?
Mother's Day falls on Sunday 11 March, in the United Kingdom.
What's the history behind Mother’s Day?
The secular festival many of us celebrate originates from the Christian festival of Mothering Sunday, which celebrates the special relationship between mother and baby.
The festival was originally a day when Christians visited their ‘mother church’. The servants of royals, aristocrats, nobility and the wealthy were allowed a holiday to return to their hometown and worship with their families.
On the way home, young people would pick wild flowers to place in the church, or to give to mums. It's why flowers are associated with Mother's Day today.
The date changes every year?
This is a little complicated as old traditions often are.
Because it falls on the fourth Sunday in Lent, exactly three weeks before Easter – and Easter doesn’t have a fixed date.
Easter is based on the lunar calendar, so the feast is scheduled to fall on the Sunday that follows the full moon on or after March 21, also known as the Spring Equinox.
