CONDUCTOR Alan Morrison has resigned from the Brighouse and Rastrick Band.

He has decided to pursue other career opportunities and band members say he leaves with their “utmost respect” and best wishes.

Alan was principal cornet player with Grimethorpe Colliery Band, before taking up a similar role with Brighouse and Rastrick.

He continues to be in great demand as a soloist and has travelled the world playing extensively in this country and in Australia, Europe and in America.

Alan has featured in many festivals and gala concerts including the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts at the Royal Albert Hall.

His conducting career has been very successful since his first appointment at the age of 17. He has since worked with many top bands.

Alan has recorded six solo albums and pioneered a teaching video that has proved highly successful.

He also features on light music recordings for the BBC with various ensembles including big bands and orchestras.
