The BAFTA nominations for 2015 have been revealed.

And it appears to be the year of the biopic, with The Theory of Everything (based on Stephen Hawking's life) and The Imitation Game (about codebreaker Alan Turing) racking up several nominations each.

Wes Anderson's surreal farce The Grand Budapest Hotel has also received BAFTA acclaim.

Two films with local connections have also received nominations.

X Men: Days of Future Past, which stars Mirfield star Sir Patrick Stewart, is up for the BAFTA for Special Visual Effects, while Pride, which features Holmfirth High School alumnus Jessica Gunning is up for the award for Outstanding British Film.

It is also nominated in the Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer category and Imelda Staunton has been nominated for Supporting Actress for her role in the film.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Sunday February 8, to be shown on the BBC.
