Huddersfield will be back on the small screen this month as BBC One drama Remember Me begins.

The three-part drama, starring Monty Python star Michael Palin and Game of Thrones' Mark Addy, was filmed in Huddersfield and Scarborough earlier this year.

Palin, 70, plays elderly Tom Parfitt, a frail Yorkshireman whose admittance to a nursing home triggers a series of inexplicable events.

On the day he leaves his home to move into residential care, he witnesses a violent death.

Care assistant Hannah (Jodie Comer - My Mad Fat Diary) and investigating police detective Rob Fairholme (Mark Addy - Games of Thrones, Atlantis), try to unravel the riddle of his mysterious history, and are drawn into an eerie and dangerous world of lost love and betrayal.

A lot of the filming took place at North Light Film Studios in Armitage Bridge — the drama is the third BBC show to be based there in six months.

Location filming took place in Marsden, Slaithwaite and the Holme Valley earlier this year, with other scenes shot in Scarborough.

It is the first time in more than 20 years that Palin has taken a starring role in a TV drama, with the first episode due to air on Sunday November 23 at 9pm.

He told the BBC: "This is my first lead role in a TV drama series since G.B.H. It's also a return to Yorkshire, where I was born, brought up and learnt my acting in amateur dramatics.

"I was attracted to Remember Me not only by the northern setting, but also by a good, strong challenging role, something I could really get what remains of my teeth into... I've always loved ghost stories, so playing the lead in one is a very exciting prospect."

The show also features Julia Sawalha, from Larkrise to Candleford, as Hannah's mother Jan Ward, and Mina Anwar from The Thin Blue Line as Tom's neighbour Roshana.

Remember Me starts on BBC One on Sunday November 23, 9pm.
