TV star Alex Brooker has won back the support of his Huddersfield fans after apologising for jokingly 'dissing' their town on The Last Leg.
The 31-year-old gave an 'unreserved apology' after the Examiner reported the Twitter storm that occurred when he jokingly told Channel 4 viewers he wouldn't want to live in our fair town.
He later said he did love Huddersfield really — it's where his wife and in-laws are from — and even asked Huddersfield Giants star Eorl Crabtree to protect him from the backlash!
Eorl took the chance to make a quip about his size... and Alex's short stature:
Alex was also invited on Twitter to have a pint at the Camel Club, the Sportsman and even asked to do a documentary in Huddersfield.
On Facebook, the story received more than 76 comments — including one from the man himself.
Some commenters agreed with Alex about not wanting to live in Huddersfield, while others defended their hometown, using the regular Last Leg hashtag '#isitok'.
Alex also explained his connections to the area.
He said: "It was said messing around because my wife and her family are from there.
"I go there quite a lot and like the place, thought I'd clear that up."
Apology accepted, Alex — you're welcome anytime!
