Wish you were here. It’s the standard postcard  comment but one that conjures up happy holidays.

And that’s precisely what Bagshaw  Museum at Batley hope to do next weekend.

The History Wardrobe is a company which teaches history through fashion  in fun shows and talks.

It’s bringing Wish You Were Here, a cheery history of seaside clothes and swim wear, to Bagshaw Museum on July 20.

There will be a  selection of bathing suits and seaside outfits from tunics with matching knickerbockers to more recent knitted costumes and kiss-me-quick hats.

But there will also be lots of holiday anecdotes in a show which starts at 2pm. Tickets from the museum on 01924 326158.

And keeping with the seaside theme, the museum is running a series of children’s workshops on Tuesdays over the summer holidays.

Children can make a pair of flip flops, design a swimming costume or their favourite knickerbocker glory.
